Pastor Billy Mack Gotcher
Pastor Gotcher and his wife Rhonda have been with us at Trinity Baptist Church since June of 2015. He received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1984 during a spring revival on his college campus in Texas. Through required chapel services and Bible classes, he was confronted with the Gospel and his need of salvation. During this time, his girlfriend (now his wife) trusted Christ as her Savior at Chalk Bluff Baptist Church. Several of the members of this church began to pray for and witness to him. After trusting Christ, he was baptized and joined the church.
He and Rhonda were married January 5, 1985. He completed his Bachelor of Business at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and accepted a position with Electronic Data Systems in May. They relocated to Michigan and became active in their local church, First Baptist Church of Troy (FBCT).
As he became involved and ministered in their home church, his burden for ministry continued to grow; in 1988, he surrendered to God’s call to preach. After fulfilling his contractual obligation with EDS, Pastor Gotcher joined the staff at his home church in 1989, and began attending Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary (DBTS) where he received his Master of Divinity degree in May, 1994. He was ordained by FBCT the following month and was given a study tour in Israel.
In September, 1996, he began to provide pulpit supply for a church in nearby Waterford and filled their pulpit through December. Shortly thereafter he was called to be their pastor and lead in the re-birth of the church; he served as the Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church until May 2004. During this time, Pastor Gotcher continued to take classes at DBTS and also began working on a doctorate at Bob Jones University. He completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2005 and a Master of Theology in 2009.
God called the Gotcher family to Palm Harbor, Florida in 2004 where they served at Berea Baptist Church for 11 years before being led here to serve at Trinity Baptist Church.
He enjoys reading, studying and teaching God’s Word, whether it be here in the U.S. or in a foreign country. He has taken mission teams to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua Spain, Alaska, Nevada and Utah; he has personally traveled to Scotland, India and China to preach and teach. When his schedule allows, he enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and shopping.
