Pastor Rob McIlwaine
Pastor Rob McIlwaine was born and raised in the Chicago area. He made a profession of faith when he was nine, but it wasn't until the end of his junior year in high school that he genuinely accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.
After one year in a Christian college, Rob realized God's call to full time Christian vocation. He completed his degree and was called by First Baptist Church of Troy in Michigan to teach in the Church's school called Bethany Christian School. After a few years, he was asked to be the Dean of Students. Years later, when the school's administrator was called to pastor another church, Rob was asked to become a part of the pastoral staff and take on the administrative duties of the school. After serving for 19 years in Michigan, Cornerstone Baptist Church called Rob to assist with the duties of the church as an assistant pastor and the administrator of Cornerstone Baptist Academy.
Pastor Rob now serves as associate pastor of discipleship here at Trinity. He is responsible for leading the church in our commitment to becoming Christ-like disciples who make other disciples. He directs and coordinates our Discipleship Groups and leads our Maturing Families Life Group. In addition, Pastor Rob serves as administrator of Trinity Baptist School where he also teaches Bible and History to our senior high students.
He and his wife Dana have been married since 1988 and have three children, Kyle (wife, Kaylea), Neil, and Elise, and one adorable grandson, Liam, born to Kyle & Kaylea in July 2017.
Pastor Rob's prayer for God's people in the church is Paul's prayer in Colossians 1:9-10 where it says, "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God."
